Human Health and Longevity

“Creation of Civilization”  written by Mokichi Okada in 1952

From now, I thoroughly criticise and dissect medicine. Before that, I must describe human health and longevity. If modern medicine is true healing medical art, the number of the sick should be decreasing year by year and the longevity should be gradually extended. That makes sense. Besides, a few centuries will be enough to achieve that. Furthermore, infectious diseases as well as tuberculosis, which are the most difficult problems to solve at present, will be eradicated. Then suffering from diseases will be something that happened in the past. In reality, however, it’s the other way round, isn’t it? It means modern medicine is apparently not true medical art.

As for human longevity. The Creator decided how long humans would live when it made them. God also revealed it to me; humans can live up to one hundred twenty old at the shortest and possibly six hundred years old at the longest. It means people can usually live up to one hundred twenty years old unless they do something wrong. That would be a life full of hope, wouldn’t it? Besides, people would live not only a long life but live healthy and lively. They no longer would need to worry about diseases. That would be an absolute Paradise on Earth. However, that is not actually the case. Something must be wrong. Why did that happen? Everyone would be surprised to hear that it was caused by medicine. Here I give you a good example to understand this 120-year-life. Let us compare human life to four seasons. If spring is from January to March, a person’s birthday will be on the 1st of January. January corresponds to the period of infancy and childhood. February corresponds to that of youth. A person reaches adolescence when plum blossoms bloom and cherry blossoms are about to bloom. When blossoms bloom, they finally become an adult and start a social life. In April, cherry blossoms are in full bloom and people get excited. During that season, a person would be at the peak of their career in their forties. Forty-two is a critical age for a man. It means blossoms fall as a proverb says that blossoms bring storms. Then summer is from May to July when fresh green leaves become deep and grow thickly. Tree branches bear plenty of fruit and the weather gets cold after that. Then harvest season has finally come in autumn and harvest begins. Humans are also in the same circumstances. Many years of their effort bear fruit. Their work finally settles down and they gain their social credibility. They are blessed with children and grandchildren, too. In that way, they have the last good time of their life. They will take advantage of various experiences and credit to help people and society as much as possible. If they spend ten years doing so, they will become ninety. Then the winter season starts. They may enjoy the beauty of nature quietly for the rest of their life. Some people might like to be active and keep working until they die. That would be also fine.

In this way, four seasons correspond well with the human life span. I think they explain the view of 120-year-life the best. In this sense, if it were not for medical treatment, it would be no wonder that humans live up to one hundred twenty years old as mentioned above. As for medical treatment, however, there are various methods. Most of them were used as a medicine until the twentieth century. It means so many kinds of diseases have been created by the medicine for a long time. After all, people create diseases with the medicine and try to cure them with the medicine. Therefore, the number of diseases naturally increases, which leads people to an earlier death. It is proved by the following fact; if medical science improved, the number of diseases would be reduced. However, it contrarily increases. In fact, it increases in direct proportion to the increase in the number of medicines. There is one more important thing to note, which people don’t realise. If medicine cures diseases, medical doctors and their families should be healthier than general people. However, the truth is they deteriorate in health rather than general people. Furthermore, I’ve heard that medical doctors are the shortest-lived of all the other kinds of doctors. Their families are weak and many of them suffer from tuberculosis. Those facts are well known. At present, the causes of death are diseases except for sudden accidents. Needless to say, people terribly suffer if they die of illness. Therefore, they think they would be rather killed than endure their pain. I often hear such a grievous cry. Then, why do they have to suffer like that? It is because they die from unnatural causes. It is as if a branch is forcibly broken in the middle. It is natural that tree leaves wither and fall, green grasses wither and fade and rice grows and is harvested. On the contrary, it is extremely unnatural that green leaves are torn, green grasses are pulled out and rice is harvested before it grows. In this sense, humans must die naturally. Since modern people become weak, they will die at between ninety and a hundred years old even if they naturally die.

As stated above, God gave us the life span of more than one hundred twenty years old and made us live healthy without suffering from diseases. However, humans did the wrong thing. They contrarily made themselves suffer from diseases and as a result, became short-lived. How idiot they are! I cannot pity them enough for their ignorance.
