Conversion from Night to Day in the Spiritual World

Creation of Civilization, written by Mokichi Okada in 1952

The important thing that I said above is the great conversion from night to day in the spiritual world. That is the change from a night to a day. It might sound strange. Everyone knows there are night and day in the day. It is true but what I say is those of the universe. When you knew this, you would learn the great mystery that is beyond our imagination, which enables you to know what the world would be and figure out almost what would happen in the future.

As I previously explained, this world consists of three elements; the world of phenomenon, the world of air and the world of spirit. Day and night of the day appear in the world of phenomenon and air. They are felt with our five senses and can be measured by the machine. On the other hand, the day and night in the spiritual world are like absolutely nothing and cannot be grasped. Therefore, you wouldn’t immediately believe what I am describing now. Even for me, I would be the same as ordinary people if I didn’t know God. Since I have this very important mission, I am inextricably linked to God so that I can surely know it.

Accordingly, as there is day end night of the day in the present world, there are those of a decade, a century, a millennium and ten thousand years in the spiritual world. Every conversion from night to day consequently reflects the human world. The conversion accurately occurs in the spiritual world but some delays are inevitable when it reflects the present world. When you look at a long history with this in mind, you would find various changes such as big, medium and small in there. They show the conversion which I explained.

Then I would like to describe the important points regarding the great conversion of the world. First of all, when did it start? It started on the 15th of June, 1931. It once settles down in thirty years until 15th of June, 1961. Speaking of the thirty years, we think that is such a long time but it happens in a flush under God’s providence of the universe. I said the conversion would require thirty years but there is no sudden change that occurs in the present world. It gradually progresses and spends more than sixty years, which is the sum of thirty years and before and after these years. It is because the conversion requires its preparation time before and organising time after those years.

Let me explain the meaning of the conversion as mentioned above. The world of the night has continued until now. It is, so to speak, dominated by the moon but at last, it is converted to the world of the day. That is what Buddha and Christ, or two great saints in the world prophesied.

According to Sutras, it was not long since Buddha claimed he reached the state of “Ken-Shin-Jitsu” at the aged seventy-two. One day, he looked as if he couldn’t hide his melancholic feeling. That is quite unusual for him. His apprentice Ananda was worried and asked Buddha, “You look unusually feeling down today. Would you have anything to concern about?” He immediately replied, “I have created Buddhism as my lifelong work and devoted myself to save all creatures. But today, I had a surprising announcement from a Great Buddha. He told me our Buddhism would perish at a certain point. I was so disappointed.” He continued, “By reaching the state of Ken-Shin-Jitsu, I knew there were not a few mistakes in Sutras that I had preached until today. Form now, I explain the truth. You try to understand it to achieve enlightenment.” Sutras written form this point must be the essence of Buddhism and they are “Twenty-eight Chapters of Lotus Sutra”, “Decline of the Law Sutra” and “Completion of Maitreya Appearance Sutra”.

As a matter of fact, it is Nichiren who had found this truth. Because of this discovery, he claimed that all doctrines of other sects didn’t tell truth as they were preached by Buddha before he reached the state of Ken-Shin-Jitsu. He gave a high-spirited announcement that only his sect taught the ultimate truth of Buddhism and denied all the other sects. Despite his arrogant announcement, we cannot blame him flatly.

Here I explain the meaning of “Twenty-eight Chapters of Lotus Sutra”. No. 25 of this Sutra is called “Kannon-Fumonhon” and it stores a great mystery. Lotus Sutra means the flower of Buddhism, which should bloom in the end. Japan is the place where the flower blooms and Nichiren is the person who makes it bloom. Therefore, he held the Lotus Sutra, never gave in to difficulties and devoted himself to the propagation of the Lotus Sutra with strong conviction. As I previously explained, Buddhism is the teachings of the moon. The moon has a negative and female characteristic. In this sense, Buddha would have said that he was reincarnated from a woman.

Nichiren propagated the Lotus Sutra in an unprecedented and unusual way. After finishing training, he climbed to the top of Mt. Kiyosumi in Chiba where he was born. He faced towards the east and loudly chanted five syllables of “Myo-ho-ren-ge-kyo” while facing the sunrise. From that point, he finally started to propagate the Lotus Sutra. This is a very famous story. Before he chanted five syllables of Lotus Sutra, people in all Buddhist sects chanted six syllables of “Namu-a-mi-da-bu-tsu.” The difference between five and six syllables have deep meaning.

That is five is the number of the sun, whereas the six is the number of the moon. As you know, Buddhist sects in Japan had a negative attitude but it turned extremely positive once Nichiren appeared. In his sect, people beat a drum, decorate flowers, chant Sutras loudly and so on. All actions they take are extremely positive. Nichiren did make the flower of Buddhism bloom. His sect is generally called the one for one generation. A flower blooms but surely becomes out of bloom. Therefore, it would temporarily flourish but no last for a long time.

I disclose another mystery. The Lotus Sutra consists of twenty-eight chapters and this number represents twenty-eight constellations of Chinese astrology. There is “Fumonhon” in the twenty-fifth chapter of the Lotus Sutra. Twenty-five is five times five. “Five” represents the sun and it is “izu” in Japanese pronunciation which means “to come out.” It consequently means the rising sun. In other words, it is the sign that the sun rises in the moon world of Buddhism. At that time, the light of dawn had already started to shine dimly in the innermost spiritual world of night.

The interesting thing is that only Nichiren sect was founded in the east, whereas all the other Buddhist sects were founded in the west. Furthermore, Mt. Kiyosumi in Chiba is located in the easternmost point in Japan and this is the place where the great mystery is stored. Please refer to the book titled “Jikan Book of Miracles”, in which I roughly described this. Namely, the world of the day started from there in the two-dimensional world of spirit.

Then I explain why the flower of Buddhism must bloom in Japan. Another mystery is hidden there. If the flower doesn’t bloom, it doesn’t bear fruit. This fruit represents a real-world and its seed represents the working of Nyoirin Kannon. As I always explain, Kannon is Maitreya of the sun, Amitabha is Maitreya of the moon and Sakyamuni is Maitreya of the earth. They are the three great saints of Amitabha. If so, Amitabha and Sakyamuni took on their role during the world of night. On the other hand, when the world of the day is approaching, Kannon displays its ability between the world of night and the world of the day. This is a God’s providence and it has been already pledged when Buddhism was born in India.

Therefore, we first started as “Nihon Kannon Kyodan,” I drew a figure of Kannon and let people pray for it as the object of worship and I was always accompanied with the spiritual body of Kannon. All of them are nothing else but related to what I explained above. Sakyamuni and Amitabha are Nyorai, whereas Kannon is Bodhisattva. Some sects are bound by the name of Bodhisattva and regard that Nyorai is above Kannon. However, they would realise their idea was wrong when they knew what I described above. Kannon rose in rank to become Komyo Nyorai afterwards and takes a role of Komyo Nyorai now. Our believers know this story well.
