上半身の病気については大体かいたが、いまだ書き残したものがあるから、これからかいてみるが、まず今日最も恐れられている病気としては中風であろうから、それを最初に説く事とする。
今日、若い者は結核、老人は中風というように、相場が決まっているが、全くその通りで、誰しも老年になるに従って、最も関心を持つものは中風であろう。中風はもちろん脳溢血からであるが、この病も医学では全然判っていないばかりか、判ってもどうする事も出来ないのであるから厄介である。まず脳溢血からかいてみるが、脳溢血の原因は、頸の固結であって、特に左右いずれかの延髄部に長年月を経て毒血が固まるのである。従って脳溢血の素質を知るのは雑作もない。右の部を指で探れば固結の有無が判る。それは右か左かどちらかが、必ず大きく隆起しており、押すと軽い痛みがある。ところがそこに一度浄化作用が発（おこ）るや、固結は溶解され、血管を破って頭脳内に溢血するのである。溢血するやたちまち脳を通過して、反対側の方へ流下し、手及び足の先にまで下降し、速やかに固まってしまい、半身不随すなわち手も足もブラブラになってしまうのである。重いのは腕も手も引っ張られるようになり、内側へ肱は曲り、指まで曲ったままで容易に動かなくなる。そうして拇指が一番強く曲り、四本の指で拇指を押える形になる。ところが面白い事には、足の方は反対に曲らないで、伸びたまま足首などダラリとなってしまう。それだけならいいが、重傷になると舌が吊って、呂律（ろれつ）が廻らなくなり、頭もボンヤリして痴呆症同様となり、目までドロンとして、悪い方の側の眼力は弱化し、見えなくなる者さえあるというのが主なる症状で、全く生ける屍となるのである。
ところで、医学の最も誤っている点は発病するや何よりも急いで頭脳を氷冷するが、これが最も悪いのである。医学ではこれによって、溢血の原因である血管を、速く収縮させようとするのであるが、これが大変な間違いで、本来溢血は毒血が出るだけ出ればたちまち止血するもので、そうなるには数分間くらいである。従って止血させる必要などないばかりか、反って氷冷のため、溢血後まだ残留している頭脳内の毒血を、より固めてしまう事になるから、頭脳内機能の活動は停止される以上、より痴呆症的になるのである。それを知らない医療は、氷冷を何日も続けるのであるから、その結果はどうなるかというと、頭脳を冷やし過ぎるため、凍結状態となってしまうのである。考えてみるがいい。人体中最も重要な機能を氷結させるとしたら生きている事は到底出来ないに決まっている。このため生命を失う者の数は実に多いのである。全く角（つの）を矯（た）めて牛を殺すの類（たぐ）いで、これこそ病気のための死ではなく、病気を治すための死であるので、何と恐るべき迷蒙ではなかろうか。これは私の長い間の多数の経験によっても明らかな事実であって、脳溢血だけで死ぬ者は滅多にないのである。
ここで脳溢血に付随する種々な点を書いてみるが、医学ではよく転ぶと脳溢血が起り易いとされているが、これは逆であって、脳溢血が発るから転ぶのである。つまり転ぶのが先ではなく、脳溢血が先なのである。よく転んだり、梯子（はしご）段から落ちたりするのは溢血のための眩暈（めまい）である。そうして最初の脳溢血が幸いにも、一時小康を得て歩けるようになっても、医師は転ぶのを非常に警戒するのは、右の理を知らないからである。また医学においては頭重や一部の麻痺、眼底出血、耳鳴等があると溢血の前徴〔兆〕として予防法を行うが、右の症状は医学のいう通りであるが、その予防法は滑稽である。それは身体を弱らせようとし、減食、運動制限等を行わせるが、これは弱らして浄化を発させないようにする手段である。また再発を予防する手段も同様であるが、これらも発病を少し延ばすだけで、いずれは必ず発病するし再発も免れないのである。また近来瀉血（しゃけつ）療法といって、発病直後にそれを行うのを可としているが、これも見当違いで、最早溢血の毒血はそれぞれの局所に固まっているのであるから、瀉血は何ら関係ないところから出血させるので、そのため貧血して、大抵は数分後死ぬので、この例は近頃よく聞くのである。
今一つ注意したい事は、高血圧が脳溢血の原因とよく言われるが、これもはなはだしい錯誤で間接には多少の関係はあるが、直接には全然ないのである。その訳を実地についてかいてみるが、以前私が扱った患者に、六十才くらいで、当時講談社の筆耕書を三十年も続けていたという人があった。この人の言うのは、自分は六年前血圧を計ったところ、何と三百あったので、医者も自分も驚いたが、血圧計の極点が三百であるから、実はもっとあるのかも知れないと思ったくらいである。そのため医師から充分に安静せよと言われたが、自分は勤めをやめると飯が食えないし、自覚症状もないから、毎日この通り休まず勤めているが、別に変った事はない、というので私も驚いたが、よく見ると左右特に右側が酷く、顎の下に鶏卵大に盛上っているゴリゴリがあったので、ハハアーこれだなと思った。というのはこの筋は腕へ繋がっているので、血圧計に表われた訳であるが、本当の脳溢血の原因である固結は、最初にかいたごとく、延髄部の毒血であるから右は見当違いである。ところが中風といっても、こういう別な症状もあるから知っておくべきである。それは左右いずれかの頸部淋巴腺に固結がある場合、これが浄化によって溶解するや、頭脳の方とは反対にその側の下方へ流下し、中風と同様の症状となるのであるが、これは脳には関係のない事と、割合軽症なため、医師も首を捻るが、これも医療では治らないと共に、逆療法を行う結果、反って悪化し、まず廃人か死かは免れない事になる。この症状を吾々の方では逆中風と言っている。
Upper Body Diseases and Paralysis

I have already described most of the upper body diseases but not yet all. Then I describe the rest of them now. Since the most feared disease would be paralysis, I explain it first.
Nowadays, it is said that younger people suffer from tuberculosis and elder ones suffer from paralysis. That is exactly true. Everyone would be concerned about whether one will suffer from paralysis as one gets older. It is, of course, caused by cerebral haemorrhage. In medical science, the cause of paralysis is unknown. Besides, it won’t be able to do anything even if its cause is discovered. That is a serious problem. Then I first explain the cause of cerebral haemorrhage. It is caused by a solidified substance in the neck, especially in either side of the medulla oblongata where toxic blood has been accumulated and solidified for a long period.
Therefore, you can easily find out the nature of cerebral haemorrhage. When you touch the part I described above, you see whether a solidified substance is there or not. It must be highly elevated on either side. When you press it, you feel mild pain. Then, once purification action occurs, the solidified substance is dissolved. It ruptures the blood vessel and the blood flows into the brain. When it happens, the blood immediately goes through the brain, flows down to the opposite side of the body, goes further down to the tip of the hand and foot, and then quickly solidifies. This causes paralysis of one side of the body. In short, the hand and leg have become dangling.
If the symptom is severe, the hand and arm are pulled and the elbow is bent inward. Fingers are also bent and hardly moved. A thumb is most severely bent like being hold with four fingers. On the contrary, the leg is not bent but remains stretched and the ankle becomes limp. If a patient has only such symptoms, it won’t be too bad. When it gets worse, the tongue is twisted and tangled, and the head feels cloudy as if a person suffers from dementia. Eyes also become dull and the eyesight in the affected side of the body becomes weak, or some patients might lose the eyesight. They are the main symptoms of a cerebral haemorrhage, which makes a person become a living corpse.
In any case, when a person suffers from a cerebral haemorrhage, the head is immediately cooled with ice. This cooling application is the wrongest way of all in medical science. It is applied to constrict the ruptured blood vessel quickly. This is a terrible mistake. The haemorrhage naturally stops when all of the toxic blood flows out. It takes a few minutes. Therefore, there is no need to stop bleeding nor apply the cooling treatment. Nevertheless, if doing so after cerebral haemorrhage occurs, the toxic blood remains in the brain and becomes much harder, which stops the functional activity of the brain. Consequently, a person has more serious symptom like dementia. Without realising this, the medical treatment is given to a patient, whose head is kept cooling for many days. As a result, the head is so chilled that it becomes as if it is frozen.
You can see that a person cannot survive if the most important function of the body is frozen. Many people lose their lives in this case. It is exactly what the proverb says; the remedy is worse than the disease. A person dies not of his disease but the remedy for his disease. What a tremendous fallacy this would be! In my lot of experience, it is clear that a person rarely dies of an only cerebral haemorrhage.
Now I explain the symptoms related to cerebral haemorrhage and how medical science deals with them. In medical science, a person who often falls tends to suffer from a cerebral haemorrhage. On the contrary, the truth is that a person falls because he suffers from it. In short, cerebral haemorrhage occurs first and falling a second. A person feels dizzy because he suffers from a cerebral haemorrhage. Therefore, he often falls or steps off the stairs. As doctors don’t know this truth, they beware very much that a patient might fall even if he, fortunately, has a brief respite and becomes able to walk after firstly suffering from a cerebral haemorrhage.
Medical science also considers that such symptoms as heavy-headed, paralysis of parts of the body, fundal haemorrhage, ear-noises show the sign of cerebral haemorrhage. It is true. However, as for the prevention of this disease, what they do is rather ridiculous. Medical science makes the patient weak by using such a way as dietary or exercise restrictions. This is the way to prevent purification from occurring on the patient.
Medical science also gives a patient the same treatment to prevent the recurrence of a cerebral haemorrhage. However, this method just delays it for a while. The patient cannot avoid suffering from it and having a recurrence in the future after all. Nowadays, phlebotomy is regarded to be effective when it is given just after a person suffers from a cerebral haemorrhage. This is also irrelevant. Since toxic blood has already solidified in several parts of the body, it no longer remains in the part which phlebotomy is about to be given. Consequently, phlebotomy is given in the not caused part, which causes a patient to become anaemia and die in almost a few minutes. This incident is often heard to happen recently.
I also would like you to notice. It is often said that cerebral haemorrhage is caused by high blood pressure. That is a terrible mistake. It might be indirectly related a little but not directly at all to the cause of it. The following fact proves this very well. I used to have a patient who was about sixty years old at that time and had worked for a publisher as a copyist for about thirty years. He told me that his blood pressure was 300 when it was measured six years ago. That made the doctor and him very surprised but they also thought it might have been more than 300 since the device cannot measure more than 300. He was advised by the doctor not to work and rest well. However, he kept working as he couldn’t live without working. Besides, he didn’t have any subjective symptoms and nothing happened to him even though he continued to work every day as usual. When I heard of this, I was surprised, too. Then I found egg-sized swellings on both sides of his jaw. The one on the right is especially big. I thought that affected his blood pressure. Since the muscles of the jaw are connected to the ones of the arms, I think they affect the blood pressure. As I described, cerebral haemorrhage is caused by the substance solidified in the medulla oblongata. Therefore, high pressure has nothing related to cerebral haemorrhage.
When we simply say paralysis, however, you should know another symptom of it. It is the case that a person has a solidified substance on either side of the cervical lymph node. When the solidified substance is dissolved by purification, it flows down not towards the head but to the side of the body. Then it causes the symptom like paralysis. Since it is nothing related to the brain and relatively mild, the doctors wonder how it is caused. Medical treatment cannot cure the symptom, but on the contrary, it makes worse. It is because its treatment is a just opposite way of curing the disease. Therefore, a patient will never fail to be crocked or dead. We call this symptom reverse paralysis.
